I have officially completed my first book from start to finish and will have it published early next year. What originally began as a one off story quickly turned into a full series! I have been working on building out the lore and characters for the remaining stories while finalizing the first book in the series.
When first planning on finishing a book I never thought how much time would be spent in it or what write block truly was, but after a long time working on this series I feel as if a have a beginning understanding of the stresses that come with writing.
I had always wrote stories, whether they be in my head, a piece of paper or just in some notes on a phone or tablet, but I never pursued actually completing the stories. Call it fear, paranoia, or whatever may come to someone's mind when wanting to create something that the world can judge, it was hard to make past that step.
My book that I am publishing is called "The Hunted Party" and is part of a series of four books. I'm trying to remember where the idea for the story even came from and the best thing that comes to mind is "nothing". I was sitting at work one day after watching some more monster movies the night before and had the name of the book come to mind. No story or anything yet, just a name.
I wrote the name down to remember and went about my day. It wasn't until a few weeks later that I opened up my notes and looked at the title when I started to think of plot. With nothing but random ideas brewing I began typing up character names, summaries, conclusions and a few details that would help me bring my story to life.
Oddly enough the first part of the story that I was sure on was the ending. I knew how I wanted this story to end, I could picture how it would play out, but I didn't have a beginning and a middle to the rest.
Little by little I managed to piece my story together until it felt like it manifested a new story of its own. I scrapped multiple parts of the story as I rewrote sections that just didn't seem to fit with the plot and ideas of what a series could look like.
